John and his wife LaDonna have lived in Clemmons for over 13 years,  along with one daughter, Summer Elizabeth Bost, who is now  a NC Principal Fellow attending UNC-G where she will soon earn her second Masters Degree.  John and LaDonna have a combined service of over 60 years in education.  John has teaching and administrative experience spanning the pre-school years through graduate school, with fifteen years spent in a public high school science classroom, while LaDonna served twenty-three years as an English Teacher grades 9-12. 

A certified executive coach, he holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biology, a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Community Education & Resource Development as well as an Education Specialist Degree (Ed.S) in Leadership & Administration, all from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina (you know them as 3 time NCAA National Champions, go APPS!). 

John is an ordained minister and attends church at Winston Salem First Assembly.  He has served that congregation as Executive Associate, Elder, and numerous other roles in its very successful ministry to the city of Winston-Salem. He now serves on the board of Assembly Terrace, a church sponsored non-profit offering affordable housing for senior citizens as well as being the current Chairman of Leadership Winston-Salem.

He served seven years on the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Planning Board, and has been active in various Early Childhood initiatives, the Infant Mortality Coalition, Healthy Carolinians, as well as several Community Development Corporations, to include the hugely successful Goler Depot Street CDC in the downtown of Winston-Salem.  John, a former Rotarian, is President and owner of Master Counsel and Associates, Inc., which offers planning and coaching services for various non-profits and church-based organizations, to include real estate acquisition and development.  John is also a partner in Master Counsel Technologies, a software resale and consulting firm based in Lewisville, NC, as well as Terra Verde International, a startup missions-oriented venture in Nicaragua.

John Bost was first elected as Mayor in 2007.  His second term expires in 2011.
