Recycling - A Shared Responsibility
Waste Management of the Piedmont and You

The Village of Clemmons contracts with Waste Management of the Piedmont to pick up your recycling bin each week per single-family household.

Have your recycling bin to the curb along with your trash cans no later than 7:00 AM on your pickup day.

Recycling will not be picked up if you have items in the container that should not be in there.   The most common non-recyclable items mistakenly put in containers are bleach bottles, plastic bags, pizza boxes, margarine tubs, oil (motor and cooking) containers and pesticide containers.   These items should be placed in your regular trash bags.   If in doubt of what to recycle review the Recycling Guidelines

Village residents can take pride in the fact that they recycled approximately 2,774 tons in Fiscal Year 2004-2005.

If you wish to recycle cardboard, take your clean and flattened cardboard (no food residue, wrapping or packaging material) to the Public Works Facility located at 3800 Dillon Industrial Drive (off Idols Road) between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.

What to do with your HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE?

There is a permanent household hazardous waste disposal facility for residents of Forsyth County called 3RC The EnviroStation.  It is located at 1401 South Martin Luther King Jr. Drive (across from Bowman Gray Stadium)  Their hours of operation are Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. until Noon (except holidays).

3RC takes the following... metal polish, oven cleaner, rug shampoo, rat bait, bug sprays, gasoline, motor & fuel oil, antifreeze, brake fluid, batteries, glues, strippers, thinners, solvents, unmixed photo material, or other poisonous, ignitable, corrosive products, paints, cyanide waste and fluorescent light bulbs.

Enter 3RC at gate, follow drive and remain in car.  You will be asked for proof of your Forsyth County residency (driver's license).  If you have any questions, call the 3RC facility at 784-4300.
