Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee

The Village of Clemmons Council will receive applications from citizens interested in serving on the Clemmons Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee.  The Village Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee will be involved in a two-phase comprehensive plan process.  The first phase will consist of reviewing and making a recommendation regarding Request for Qualifications from consulting firms for the development of a comprehensive plan process.  The second phase will include the selection of a consultant to develop the long range planning document. The steering committee members will work closely with the selected consultant(s) on both phases to develop the content for a new Village Comprehensive Plan. 

The Village of Clemmons Council will appoint up to nine members to serve on the Village Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee, which will serve approximately 18-24 months throughout the development of the comprehensive plan. Once the comprehensive plan is developed and approved by Village Council the implementation of the plan will occur by the Village Council, Planning Board and other committees appointed by the Village Council.  The steering committee will only be involved in the development of the plan; however, once the plan is completed the Village encourages the members of the steering committee to transition into other standing boards appointed by Council for the implementation stage. 

The role of the committee will be to help establish goals and objectives for the planning process, work with staff and the consultant regarding the content and community outreach with the development of a comprehensive plan, and oversee development of the draft and final documents.  Applicants must be available in early June to begin the review of consultants for the first phase portion of the comprehensive plan process.  The Village Comprehensive Plan process will last between 18-24 months.  The application deadline is May 21, 2008.  For information please contact Megan Ledbetter, Village Planner at 336-766-7511 or at mledbetter@clemmons.org.
